Wine.com 100: Brancott Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015 nabs the #1 spot

Article 12/12/2016

Brancott Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015 has landed at the top spot in the 2016 Wine.com 100, the first time in 10 years that a New Zealand wine or a white wine has won.

In a list where half the wines are of US origin, only five New Zealand wines were included in the top 100, making this achievement even more impressive.

'It's such an honour to be so well regarded by Wine.com and all our fans of the Brancott Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015,' says Patrick Materman, Chief winemaker at Brancott Estate. 'We knew Marlborough was going to produce some pretty special wines when we first planted Sauvignon Blanc back in 1975, and it's rewarding to see our wines being enjoyed by so many people across the US.'

Wine.com is the world's largest wine store and the 2016 Wine.com 100 is one of the few awards based on consumer preference. Brancott Estate beat 25,000 wines to be the most popular wine for 2016.
