Monkey 47

MONKEY 47 draws on the eccentric recipe of Montgomery Collins – the man responsible for the creation of the Schwarzwald Dry Gin. The brand takes its name from its composition: 47 handpicked plant ingredients prepared in soft spring water from the Black Forest.

History and Know-How

Wing commander Montgomery “Monty” Collins was posted in Berlin after World War II and became devoted to the rebuilding of its Zoo, through which he came to sponsor a monkey by the name of Max. He then moved to the northern Black Forest region where he opened a country guesthouse, “The Wild Monkey”. Nostalgic of British long-standing traditions, chief among them a good glass of gin, he developed a natural and regional based recipe of Black Forest gin: juniper, spring water and a variety of special herbal ingredients.
