Church Road Cellar Door has joined its Marlborough sibling in achieving a Gold Sustainable Tourism Business Award from Qualmark.

A Qualmark Gold Award recognises the best sustainable tourism businesses in New Zealand, delivering exceptional customer experiences in everything they do, as well identifying businesses that are playing an integral role in making the New Zealand tourism industry a world class sustainable visitor destination.

The award came following a detailed audit of our cellar door operations, where a number of categories were scored as 'representing best practice', the highest rank achievable.  National Cellar Door Manager, Brent Pilcher said: 'The Qualmark team pointed to a number of areas of outstanding achievement, including staff wellness, community engagement and energy and waste management. They also provided us with valuable feedback on areas we can develop. We will also be looking at how we can action this feedback to continue to provide a world-class service to Hawke's Bay visitors.'

Qualmark is owned by Tourism New Zealand and focuses on securing a long term sustainable tourism industry in New Zealand. The Qualmark accreditation criteria focuses on economic, environmental, people and health & safety aspects of tourism businesses.
