Press Release 16/04/2024

Spot Whiskey is celebrating its rich and colourful heritage in line with World Art Day on the 15th April. The month-long campaign will champion the brand's historical connection to colour through a whiskey cocktail competition, art workshops, whiskey tasting masterclasses, bespoke cocktail listings and food pairing menus.

Bars and restaurants across London will celebrate Spot Whiskey with a range of bespoke cocktail menus and masterclasses. TT Liquor in Shoreditch will have limited edition cocktails on the menu in the Cellar Bar from 16th- 27th April, alongside an art and whiskey ticketed masterclass on Wednesday 17th April. The Art Academy London will be hosting the event, offering hands-on teaching to those wanting to jump into the world of art with a contemporary drawing class, inspired by Spot Whiskey’s colourful heritage. Over in Mayfair, Corrigan’s is serving a Spot Whiskey dessert special, and Daffodil Mulligan’s in Shoreditch will include a Spot Whiskey cocktail on menu for the month.

Some of the UK’s top 50 cocktail bars will then be competing in a cocktail competition. Entries include Lab 22Penny RoyalThe Milk ThistleThe HideoutDead Canary and hosts, Hyde & Co. Each bar will create a pre-batched cocktail using Green Spot whiskey to be judged by the brand’s UK Ambassador and the selected winner will be invited to Spot Whiskey’s prestigious celebratory dinner at Berry Bros. & Rudd. All bars will then showcase their cocktail creations for one night only at Hyde & Co in Bristol on 21st April; whichever bar’s drink sells out first will win a bottle of the exclusive new Gold Spot The Generations Edition.

James Bremner, On-Trade Channel Director for Pernod Ricard UK, comments: “We’re delighted to be partnering with so many of our customers to bring consumers a unique experience with Spot Whiskey. The quality of our Spot Whiskies is well known, however, the legacy behind their colourful spots may be a surprise. This campaign has been designed to bring this to the forefront and celebrate how the spots were in fact designed as a clever labelling system with casks given a splodge of paint to identify the age of the whiskey.”

Gold Spot The Generations Edition

In addition, the brand recently unveiled Gold Spot The Generations Edition, which pays tribute to Spot Whiskey’s generations of colourful family history. This limited-edition 13-year-old single pot still Irish whiskey stands as the second offering in the Gold Spot series, following the previous nine-year-old Gold Spot inaugural launch.

The latest addition to the Gold Spot series is a thirteen-year aged whiskey, once again championing the use of wine casks in whiskey, transcending tradition, and demonstrating the harmonisation of heritage and innovation. The new expression marries Gold Spot’s established use of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, with a unique maturation in Valpolicella Classica Italian wine casks for 17 months. The casks are from the Secondo Marco winery, a company founded by Marco Speri, whose passion stems from the oenological heritage of his family; Gold Spot The Generations Edition pays tribute to a long line of dedication to both wine and whiskey across two families and pays homage to their legacy.

A non-chill filtered release bottled at 46% ABV, Gold Spot The Generations Edition is now available to purchase via Whiskey Exchange in limited quantities in the USA, Ireland, UK, France, Travel Retail Ireland, and Brand Homes. RRP £130.
