A proactive approach in Germany


In a country like Germany, where traditionally there is little communication concerning alcohol consumption, Pernod Ricard ensures with increasing vigilance that a rigorous ethic guides all of its advertising campaigns.

German health authorities positively received the pictogram initiative. The programme also initiated a meeting and constructive dialogue with German authorities.

Sabine Bätzing, German commissioner on drug-related issues, affirms: “The pictogram that Pernod Ricard applies to all of its products is an excellent example of how a leader in the sector… can fully assume its social responsibility by applying a simple measure. I hope that other companies will have the courage to follow the example of Pernod Ricard.”

Prevention campaigns that work closely with health authorities


The German association BSI (Bundesverband der Deutschen Spirituosen-Industrie und Importeure), which brings together the main producers of wines and spirits including Pernod Ricard Deutschland, published and distributed a pamphlet for pregnant women to gynaecologists. Entitled “Responsible from the start”, the brochure warns against the risks related to drinking alcohol during pregnancy.

A partnership between Pernod Ricard Deutschland and Charité Hospital


In April 2010, Pernod Ricard Deutschland concluded a partnership with Charité‑Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Europe’s largest hospital. Giant posters with the logo showing a pregnant woman accompanied by the slogan “No alcohol for my baby” were placed on the hospital’s exterior.
The campaign puts German women in the spotlight. True opinion leaders, they have become spokeswomen to the general public for the “No alcohol for my baby” message through their personal accounts. The campaign will appear in magazines in the coming weeks. The website www.mein-kind-will-keinen-alkohol.de will also help to distribute information over the Internet.
