The Pernod Ricard Code for commercial communications must be followed by all marketing teams. A training programme was set up to help employees to comply with the Code as soon as they join the Group. Two South American subsidiaries provide an example.
A continuous approach to training
The Pernod Ricard Code lays out rules regarding ethics and advertising for employees throughout the world. It is based on the European Forum for Responsible Drinking (EFRD) code of conduct, which the Group used previously.
As soon as they join the Group, employees attend an orientation workshop during which they learn the values advocated by Pernod Ricard.
Furthermore, legal seminars on implementing the Pernod Ricard Code are regularly organised at the Group’s Training Centre. Lastly, the subsidiaries provide their teams with ethical marketing training sessions.

The EFRD has established a code of conduct at the European level. To encourage compliance, it developed an interactive tool dedicated to marketing teams. The tool offers teams training modules, which they can also use to verify a campaign’s compliance.

Colombian and Venezuelan subsidiaries take action
Continuing the Equilibre campaign, led by the South American subsidiaries since 2008, Pernod Ricard Venezuela offered its first responsible drinking seminar in September 2009. Pernod Ricard Colombia employees were also invited to attend. Interactive workshops, discussions and various activities helped to recall all the ethical rules that advertisements for alcoholic beverages must follow. With the help of an electronic voting system, employees were also able to test their knowledge of the Code by assigning "green" or "red" recommendations to advertisements.
