Since its creation, Pernod Ricard has encouraged responsible consumption practices to combat drink driving and prevent excessive alcohol intake, particularly among young adults and pregnant women.
Since 1971, the Group has offered its financial support to the Institut de Recherche et d’Étude des Boissons (IREB), created by Jean Hémard, then president of Pernod SA.
IREB is a unique example of a private organisation dedicated to alcohol research; as such, it retains a fully independent scientific council. Working both independently and in partnership with public authorities and other research groups, the IREB subsidizes studies on alcohol dependence, its effects on health and epidemiology.
